A blogger I love, Chip-It tool and our new home!

So, I was thinking the other day how it might be fun to have a blog. I've tried it before and never really kept up with it... I thought to myself maybe this time would be different. I follow several bloggers - the one I keep up with the most being The Small Things Blog. Today she posted about revamping her guest bathroom and how she used the Chip-It tool from Sherwin Williams. Several weeks ago she did another post explaining how Chip-It worked and after checking it out a few minutes later, I was immediately hooked! What's even better about her blog post today is that there is a give-away for $1,000 visa gift card and a $200 Sherwin-Williams gift card that would be SO helpful for Daniel and I with.... *drum roll* our new, exciting plans.......

Starting in September (hopefully), Daniel and I are building a new house (YAY!!!) and I've been so excited about getting to design my new, beautiful home! One of the biggest things I've always wanted in my first, nice house is for each room to have a distinct style, but I wasn't always sure how to pull that off - finding the perfect colors, especially. When The Small Things Blog posted about Chip-It, it was exactly what I needed to get started on my dream home.

Basically, Chip-It allows you to give it a link to a specific image you like and it will pull all the colors in that picture and translate them into exact Sherwin Williams paint colors with the color names and style numbers. Then, when you're ready to start paiting, you have all the info you need for the colors you want!

I went a little crazy with this Chip-It tool and was able to decide on styles for our master suite, our study, our living room/kitchen/dining room, our two guest bedrooms, and our guest bathroom. All that's left is the powder bathroom and our upstairs theatre room (which I'll probably leave for Daniel to design anyway!).

You guys want to see what we've come up with so far?!

Okay, so first off will be our MASTER SUITE. These pictures are actually from the honeymoon suite we stayed in on our wedding night at The Campbell Hotel in Tulsa. Not only did we absolutely fall in love with this room when we stayed there, but I thought it would be perfectly sweet and nostalgic to have our master suite designed just like our honeymoon suite from when we got married. :)
The feel of the room is very elegent, royal, dramatic, calming and romantic all at the same time. There are TONS of different colors in this room, so I plan to use some of the colors from each of the Chip-It palettes that Sherwin-Williams pulled for me.

Up next is our STUDY/OFFICE. We are trying to use decorations that we already have from before we were married and combined households. One picture Daniel had is this huge world travels/African-ish theme framed painting and I also have an awesome leopord print decorative chair. So we decided to do an upscale Safari/African/World Travels theme. Here are our color inspirations:

For our LIVING ROOM/KITCHEN/DINING ROOM (which all flow together in a fairly open floor plan), Daniel specifically mentioned the he would like an Italian style design. The model homes from our builder have this awesome brownish-yellowish color textured walls that he fell in love with and wanted to keep. So I googled "Italian" and "Tuscan" style decor and this is what we came up.

Lots of neutral yellows, greens, and browns, wood and stone mixed together... and since I wanted the dining room to have it's own distinct feel while still fitting in with the color scheme for the rest of the main living area, I thought it might be good to do the bottom half of the dining room walls with the Loyal Blue color and the top half with maybe the Birdseye Maple and some chair rail separating the two colors.

Daniel and I are HUGE on hosting... we love being able to invite people over, throw parties, etc... I, espeically, want to be able to cook and bake for groups of people, serve some wine... just really entertain. We also want people to be able to stay the night, last minute if it's late, and they don't want to drive home, or our families need a place to stay during visits from China, or during the holidays. So I wanted our guest bedrooms to be exciting places for people to snuggle into at night.

I am in LOVE with the vintage style right now and knew that would definitely have to be one of the styles for our new home. So our first GUEST ROOM will be just that. I plan on putting my beauitful wedding veil in a shaddow box to hang up in the room, and getting a few of our wedding photos blown up to decorate the walls. We also have painted some furniture we own to be a light, vintage- looking teal color that is pefect for this look:

Our second GUEST ROOM will be an Asian-ish theme. Daniel LOVES red and black and quite a bit of our current decor revolves around those two colors, so we wanted to be able to use that stuff. I also took a Wine & Palette class a few months back and created the painting below that fits in perfectly with the red/black feel. Also, my brother and sister-in-law live in China and they gave us this awesome asian flower/tree painting that will go perfectly as well. This color palette doesn't show quite as much of the deeper reds as I want, so I will have to "Chip" a few more pictures to get the colors I want... and  we will also add a lot of wood textures to the room.

Lastly is our GUEST BATHROOM. This weekend me, my mom and my sister-in-law are all doing another painting class at Pinot's Palette on Cherry Street in Tulsa and I decided to make our bathroom style centered around what we are painting so I'd have a place to hang my art. It will probably be the most bright, fun room in our whole house... we tend to go for the darker, moodier themes.. :)

So there you have it! A glimpse into our new house..! We are so excited, words can't even describe it. And we feel so grateful to God for the blessings that allow us to be able to take this awesome first step in our new marriage.

Hopefully this is just the start of my new blogging adventure! :) If nothing else, definitely might be a good way to let people follow our home-building process!
